EAOO Celebrates World Sight Day 2024: Focus on Children’s Vision

This year, World Sight Day 2024 highlights an essential theme: Children’s Vision. The European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) is proud to join the global movement in raising awareness about the importance of healthy vision for children.

EAOO President Rupal Lovell-Patel emphasizes: This year’s World Sight Day is shining a light on Children’s Vision.

Healthy eyes for everyone is a good goal for all eyecare professionals to have and by making sure that we start to care of the eyes from a young age means we can prevent any development issues, which can have lifelong implications. Good vision plays a critical role in children’s development not just in educational setting, as some research suggests that 80% of learning has a vision component but also social interaction.

We are asking our members and fellows to join us to raise awareness of the importance good eye care for all Children. Children may not be able to communicate that they have vision issues so encouraging parents/carers to book regular eye examination for themselves and their children would be a great way to achieve the goal of health eyes for all.

Join us this World Sight Day in making a difference to ensure a brighter, clearer future for the next generation!
