At present  Mrs. Stankova works at her own company “Eurooptic” Ltd  as a consultant for  Spectacles and Contact lenses, helping customers solving visual problems. She also has a practice at the VISION Eyeclinic in Sofia as a Contact lens specialst for Keratoconus and Myopia Management.

Personal

In 1981 Mrs. Stankova  graduated as an Ophthalmic Optician from the Technical School of Fine Mechanics and Optics “Mikhail Lomonosov” in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2015-2016 she got  certified as “Kontaktlinsenspezialist / in (FH) Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena – University of Applied Sciences, Fachbereich SciTec – Studiengang AugenOptik / Optometrie.

In 2009, Mrs.Stankova managed to obtain a state license for opening a private Vocational training center  for  teaching Opticians in Dispensing Optics . Additionally, she is running her project EUROOPTIC ACADEMY for CTP trainings for Optometrists and Opticians.

She was a member of the editorial committee, writer, and cowriter for the magazine “Refraction and Optical correction”.

In addition, she has been involved with the professional and educational policy related to Optics and Optometry for over 40 years both at local and international level. 

She likes doing sports ( skiing ) and discovering world cultures. Born in Bulgaria, Liliana speaks four languages. 

Her credo: Whoever stops being better, becomes worse!

Local activities

As a President of the NABOO /National Association of Bulgarian Optometrists and Opticians/2005-2009/, Mrs. Stankova took the initiative to change the status of the profession of Opticians in Bulgaria from the sector of craftsmanship to a status of healthcare. During the two mandates she managed to earn significant experience in the area of negotiations with the local government. 

She was also the initiator of the project Optometry in Bulgaria which  successfully started in 2009 at Sofia University  Sv. Sv. Kliment Ohridski.

Since 2016  for her contribution to Bulgarian Optometry she was announced as  Honored member/Fellow of  Bulgarian Union of Optometrists  /BSO/.

International experience

Mrs. Stankova was  an active member of the Educational committee (2006 – 2008) of European Council of Optometry and Optics /ECOO/. In 2008 she was elected as a member of the Professional service committee of ECOO for a mandate of 2 years. As a member of the committees, she was involved in several Projects of ECOO – TUPO Project, European Diploma in Optometry project, Blue book etc.

From 2009 she has been a founder member of the European Academy for Optometry and Optics /EAOO/. 

From 2011- 2017 Mrs. Stankova was Trustee of the BoT of EAOO. In 2017 she became Fellow of EAOO in the category “Professional advancement and /or management of visual healthcare”. 

In 2019 Mrs. Stankova was nominated by International Opticians Association /IOA/ as Optician of the Month.

In year 2021 Mrs. Stankova became a Vice President of EAOO.

In 2022 during the conference in Dublin Mrs. Stankova started her new role of the President of EAOO
