
Eva Lazuka – Nicoulaud
Eva is Head of Advocacy and Partnerships for Europe and Africa at the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, a global non-profit organisation whose aim is to “help eliminate uncorrected poor vision in a generation”.
In her role, Eva works with public authorities, academia, professional bodies, NGOs, researchers, clinicians, and advocacy partners to create awareness and prioritize vision health policy in overall Public Health and the Development agenda outlined by the WHO and the United Nations.
Throughout her career, Eva has held various international roles in the eye health sector, building her expertise in vision care practice, scientific consulting, global marketing, innovation strategy, professional relations, publishing, education, advocacy, and leadership. Eva has held managerial positions in vision care practice in France (1996-1997), scientific consulting at GIFO in Eastern Europe (1998-2000), and global marketing, and innovation strategy at Essilor International (2001-2013). She also served as Global Head of Professional Affairs (2014-2018) and the Editor-in-chief of the International Review of Ophthalmic Optics, Points de Vue (2014-2019). Most recently, she served as the Director of the Vision Impact Institute, leading research-driven advocacy in Europe and Africa (2019-2022).
Eva is a qualified vision care specialist and advocacy professional committed to advancing the cause of vision health. She is a lecturer, author, and reviewer in peer-reviewed Journals; International Journal of Public Health and Frontiers in Public Health. Eva has authored several patents and received industry awards. As a longstanding supporter of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO), Eva has been an effective Board Member of the EAOO Board of Trustees since May 2022. She is also an active member of International Organizations and Coalitions, including IOA, ECV, and IAPB.
Eva holds a master’s degree in Management, Marketing, and Business Development from ESSEC Business School in Paris, France (2005), and a bachelor’s degree in Optics from EOL, Optics School in Lille, France (1996). She has completed several professional courses in Leadership, Finance, Intellectual Property, and Innovation Strategy, and earned certifications from international executive education programs such as Leadership in a crisis from INSEAD Business school in Singapore.
From a personal perspective, Eva believes in the life-transforming power of vision health in children, women, workers, drivers, and underserved people. She likes turning her passion for vision health into impactful strategies. She believes in the positive impact of public-social-private partnerships (PSPP). She not only volunteers in eye health clinics but also cares about economic and environmental challenges. She practices several sports and likes discovering world cultures. Born in Poland, Eva speaks three languages.
